Show Notes

In our special holiday bonus episode, Jay is joined by 3 Clips producers Cherie Turner and Andrea Muraskin, where they each gift one memorable clip from a show they love to the group -- then dissect it together.

The group talks about developing and capturing strong characters when you create nonfiction shows ... playing with form and taking risks with what a podcast should actually sound like ... and how to end episodes strong ... and more!

Every week in Playing Favorites, Jay Acunzo shares a new idea or story exclusive to subscribers about making things that make a difference. Our one goal is to make the audience’s favorite things -- so what does that take, anyway?

Jay’s new course is now available. Learn to craft the most important piece of your show: the premise, the big idea driving everything you do inside and around your show. This is the #1 reason shows fail -- the ideas are too general, not specific or high-impact enough to support a whole show.

Learn how to craft more than a bunch of episodes. Create IP. Make a show that makes a difference.

Midseason Review: Extra Clips

We’re a tad past the halfway point of season 2 so we figured it would be a good time to press pause and review three clips from episodes we featured on season 2…but not clips that were played on 3 Clips. You Heard Me Write: Structure Sets Us Free (ft. Kacie Willis)

Every so often we come across a show so refreshing, so original, it revamps our whole idea of what a podcast can be. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, Atlanta-based sound designer Kacie Willis made her living from live theater. In 2020, Kacie found herself stuck at home without any gigs – and, like many of us, watching people hide behind screen names to attack each other on the internet. So Kacie created You Heard Me Write, a podcast that draws on the creativity of local writers and sound artists, and uses anonymity to unite rather than divide. The show uses a very specific episode structure, and we promise you haven’t heard anything like it before. In the interview, Kacie also discusses working with Spotify, and how she-  a self-described introvert-  developed her hosting persona.  EXPLORE THE SHOW Visit for all episodes of the show.  LEARN MORE ABOUT 3 CLIPS HOST JAY ACUNZO Subscribe to his newsletter, explore his course for podcasters, or watch and listen to all of Jay’s shows and projects at  LEARN MORE ABOUT CASTOS 3 Clips is a Castos Original Series.
