Show Notes

Audio as a Visual Medium is a paradox in many ways. But when done well, writing for the ear, editing and sound design can create a visual world through audio. Camp Monsters from REI…yes the brand, is a perfect example of this.

Written, hosted and narrated Weston Davis, Camp Monsters features as they put it “stories of impossible encounters with impossible creatures in the wildest corners of North America.” Along with producer Chelsea Davis and sound designer Nick Patri, REI has created a branded podcast that doesn’t feel like a branded podcast. It feels more like an old fashioned radio drama reimagined.

6 Nuggets: Take-Home Insights from our Incredible Guests (ft. the producers of 3 Clips)

Jay is on paternity leave (so cute! https://www.instagram.com/p/CPYK1-NjEr6/), and we the producers – Andrea Muraskin and Cherie Turner – are taking the reins this time. Since we joined the show in fall 2020, we’ve both learned so much about podcasting from our brilliant guests. So with Jay awash in diapers and drool, we’re both sharing three “nuggets” of wisdom from the archive that shine particularly brightly for each of us – in the form of clips, of course!  EXPLORE THE SHOW Visit http://3clipspodcast.com for all episodes of the show.  LEARN MORE ABOUT JAY Subscribe to his newsletter, explore his course for podcasters, or watch and listen to all of Jay’s shows and projects at http://jayacunzo.com. You Heard Me Write: Structure Sets Us Free (ft. Kacie Willis)

Every so often we come across a show so refreshing, so original, it revamps our whole idea of what a podcast can be. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, Atlanta-based sound designer Kacie Willis made her living from live theater. In 2020, Kacie found herself stuck at home without any gigs – and, like many of us, watching people hide behind screen names to attack each other on the internet. So Kacie created You Heard Me Write, a podcast that draws on the creativity of local writers and sound artists, and uses anonymity to unite rather than divide. The show uses a very specific episode structure, and we promise you haven’t heard anything like it before. In the interview, Kacie also discusses working with Spotify, and how she-  a self-described introvert-  developed her hosting persona.  EXPLORE THE SHOW Visit http://3clipspodcast.com for all episodes of the show.  LEARN MORE ABOUT 3 CLIPS HOST JAY ACUNZO Subscribe to his newsletter, explore his course for podcasters, or watch and listen to all of Jay’s shows and projects at http://jayacunzo.com  LEARN MORE ABOUT CASTOS 3 Clips is a Castos Original Series.
