You Heard Me Write: Structure Sets Us Free (ft. Kacie Willis)

Every so often we come across a show so refreshing, so original, it revamps our whole idea of what a podcast can be. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, Atlanta-based sound designer Kacie Willis made her living from live theater. In 2020, Kacie found herself stuck at home without any gigs – and, like many of us, watching people hide behind screen names to attack each other on the internet. So Kacie created You Heard Me Write, a podcast that draws on the creativity of local writers and sound artists, and uses anonymity to unite rather than divide. The show uses a very specific episode structure, and we promise you haven’t heard anything like it before. In the interview, Kacie also discusses working with Spotify, and how she-  a self-described introvert-  developed her hosting persona.  EXPLORE THE SHOW Visit http://3clipspodcast.com for all episodes of the show.  LEARN MORE ABOUT 3 CLIPS HOST JAY ACUNZO Subscribe to his newsletter, explore his course for podcasters, or watch and listen to all of Jay’s shows and projects at http://jayacunzo.com  LEARN MORE ABOUT CASTOS 3 Clips is a Castos Original Series. Standing Ovation: The Power of a Hook (ft. Jay Baer)

The show we’re discussing with Jay, Standing Ovation, is kind of like 3 Clips, but for public speaking. Each episode, Jay interviews a public speaker and together they break down a favorite story that the guest tells on stage - with clips from those talks. Jay Baer knows a thing or two about podcasting, both from the three shows he hosts and the shows he’s helped other companies launch through his business, Convince and Convert. On 3 Clips, he shares tips on how to ask guests questions they’ve never been asked before, the importance of signaling key lessons to your audience, and how to distill those lessons from your guest. Plus, a show-stopping impression of a vomiting cat! SUBSCRIBE TO THE NEWSLETTER: Every week in Playing Favorites, Jay Acunzo shares a new idea or story exclusive to subscribers about making things that make a difference.
