Show Notes

SHOW NOTES:

Louis Grenier is a marketing consultant whose stated mission is to “fight marketing bullshit,” which he does with his company Everyone Hates Marketers, and a podcast by the same name.

After three years and 200 interview-style podcast episodes, Louis realized he was forgetting who his guests were even five episodes ago. So in March 2021, he decided to refresh himself, and his show.

New episodes are shorter, in monologue format, and focus around one marketing lesson, rather than on a guest. In these episodes, Grenier re-packages clips from his past interview episodes and cites examples from books and other sources. It really works for the listener, even if you never heard the original interviews. And it’s working for Louis, as a way to showcase his own marketing know-how. Among other topics, Louis and Jay discuss developing a personal brand and host persona, and how to make your podcast stand out in a crowded field.

Darknet Diaries: Making the Technical Palpable (ft. Jack Rhysider)

Cyber crime, hacking and the dark side of the internet. In many ways, Darknet Diaries seems like a scary podcast and at times it can be. Camp Monsters: Audio as a Visual Medium (ft. Weston Davis)

Audio as a Visual Medium is a paradox in many ways. But when done well, writing for the ear, editing and sound design can create a visual world through audio. Camp Monsters from REI…yes the brand, is a perfect example of this. Written, hosted and narrated Weston Davis, Camp Monsters features as they put it “stories of impossible encounters with impossible creatures in the wildest corners of North America.” Along with producer Chelsea Davis and sound designer Nick Patri, REI has created a branded podcast that doesn’t feel like a branded podcast. It feels more like an old fashioned radio drama reimagined. Interviewing, Seriously (ft. Juleyka Lantigua-Williams)

SHOW NOTES: The first time we had veteran producer, host, and production company founder/CEO Juleyka Lantigua-Williams on the show was in November 2020. Back then, Jay spoke with Juleyka about developing her company and the show she hosts, How to Talk to [Mamí & Papí] About Anything – a podcast that helps adult children of immigrant parents broach difficult topics with their families. We invited Juleyka back for this special episode on interviewing because of her depth of experience. We particularly appreciate the vulnerability, sensitivity, nerve, and humor that she brings to conversations with her guests, and shared with us. Listen, learn, and level up.  EXPLORE THE SHOW Visit http://3clipspodcast.com for all episodes of the show.  LEARN MORE ABOUT 3 CLIPS HOST JAY ACUNZO Subscribe to his newsletter, explore his course for podcasters, or watch and listen to all of Jay’s shows and projects at http://jayacunzo.com  LEARN MORE ABOUT CASTOS 3 Clips is a Castos Original Series.
